About the Speaker: Professor Aoun is a Perron Institute Research Chair in Palliative Care at The University of Western Australia, in addition to, the Chair of MND Australia, and the MND Association in Western Australia. She is a global leader in the areas of public health palliative care and compassionate communities research and has influenced rapid system change and informed practice and policy at the national and international levels. Among numerous awards, Professor Aoun received the Medal for Excellence from the European Society for Person Centered Healthcare in 2018, the Centenary Medal in 2003 from Australia’s Prime Minister and more recently 2023 Western Australia’s Australian of the Year.
