June 23, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CDT

Free
Les Turner ALS Foundation Learning Series

About the Program

Many people living with ALS qualify for Medicare to provide their health insurance after they are no longer working full-time. This presentation will examine Medicare eligibility, enrollment, coverage, costs, assistance paying for costs, and considerations when choosing between traditional Medicare and a private Medicare advantage plan. Questions, answers and discussion will follow the program.

The webinar is a free, public service of the Les Turner ALS Foundation.

About the Speaker

Kathleen Holt, JD, joined the Center for Medicare Advocacy in 2014 as Associate Director and attorney. In addition to her law practice, she is an experienced hospital administrator with an MBA in healthcare management. After obtaining her law degree, Kathy became a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for Social Security and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Seattle. Following the birth of her profoundly disabled youngest child, she founded a Seattle area law practice advocating for the needs of older and disabled people.

After the ALS diagnosis of a close friend in 1991, Kathy served as President of the Board of both the ALS Association Evergreen Chapter (Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska) and subsequently, the Connecticut Chapter. She was also a national ALS Association Trustee. She currently serves on the Boards of Team Gleason, Yale-New Haven Health System’s Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, the Connecticut Teacher’s Retirement Board, and the Mansfield Connecticut Housing Authority.
